SetForge Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Malcolm Lane (trading as SetForge) ("SetForge", "we", "us") for use of the SetForge app. By creating an account you accept them. See also our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data.
1. The service
SetForge is an offline-first app for managing songs, setlists, rehearsal and gig sessions. A Free plan covers up to 200 songs, 10 setlists and 10 sessions, with sharing included. A paid Premium subscription removes those limits and adds the Rehearsal tab and backing tracks. Current prices are shown in the app before you subscribe.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for anything done through your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. Billing and cancellation
- Premium is billed monthly or annually in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the price you signed up at, until you cancel. If the public price changes later, it never applies retroactively to an existing subscription — you keep the price you started at for as long as you stay subscribed without a gap.
- Cancel any time from Settings → Premium → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period you've already paid for, then the account reverts to Free. Nothing you've added is deleted.
- Right to cancel and refund: as a UK consumer you normally have 14 days from subscribing to cancel for a full refund. Because Premium unlocks immediately, if you use Premium features within those 14 days we may deduct a reasonable amount for the value already received. To ask for a refund, email mal@setforgemusic.com. This right doesn't apply to renewals of a subscription you've already had for more than 14 days.
4. Your content
You own the songs, setlists and other content you add to SetForge. You give us only the limited licence needed to store, sync and display it back to you and, where you choose to share it, to the band members or collaborators you share it with. We don't use your content for anything else, and we don't sell it.
You're responsible for making sure you're allowed to store and use any chord sheets, lyrics or audio you upload — for example, chord charts for personal/rehearsal use are generally fine, but you shouldn't upload copyrighted audio or lyrics you don't have the right to use.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use SetForge to:
- break the law, or infringe someone else's rights;
- try to access another account or band you're not a member of;
- attempt to disrupt the service or bypass its rate limits and usage caps;
- upload material that is unlawful, harassing, or that you don't have the rights to use.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches this.
6. Third-party services
SetForge relies on third parties to work — Supabase (database and sign-in), PowerSync (offline sync), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), and, only if you opt in, PostHog (analytics). Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their part of the service. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
7. Availability
We aim to keep SetForge available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access — the service is provided "as is." SetForge is built offline-first specifically so brief outages or gaps in connectivity don't stop you using your songbook.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that can't be limited by law. Otherwise, our liability to you for any claim relating to SetForge is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
9. Ending this agreement
You can stop using SetForge and delete your account at any time from Profile → Danger zone. Deleting your account cancels any subscription; an annual plan is refunded for the unused time, a monthly plan is not.
We may suspend an account, without prior notice, where we reasonably suspect misuse, suspicious activity, or a breach of section 5 — for example signs of fraud, abuse, or a security risk to the service or other users. A suspended account can't sign in until the suspension is lifted; nothing you've stored is deleted while it's suspended. Where reasonably possible, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond before deciding whether to lift the suspension, keep it in place, or close the account permanently. The final decision on any suspension or closure is ours, exercised reasonably and not arbitrarily.
If we close your account permanently, or discontinue the service, we'll give reasonable notice and, where reasonably possible, a chance to export your data first via Settings → Backup & Restore.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. If a change is material we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use SetForge after that means you accept the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your own country of residence.
